Do Women Find Huge Muscle-Bound Men Attractive?

Posted on July 15, 2014 Written by James Woolley Leave a Comment

I myself am someone who works out regularly and loves developing my biceps and chest muscles in particular. However I have no interest in putting on masses of weight and building absolutely massive arms like a World’s Strongest Man competitor, for example.

So whilst thinking about this the other day, I found myself wondering if women actually find these 20-25-stone muscle-bound goliaths attractive or not, and decided to conduct a little experiment with my female friends to find out.

What I did was I picked out some photos of three reasonably good-looking men who looked very similar facially, but all had completely different bodies.

One was a huge man with enormous arms and huge pecs, who clearly just wanted to get as big as possible because he had a slight layer of fat covering his abs muscles.

The second was a man who clearly works out regularly because he had strong arms, a slight 6-pack and definition in his arms, chest and shoulders, but wasn’t excessively muscular.

The third and final picture was of a slim, slender man who had no real muscle definition at all, no visible 6-pack and very little body fat.

I then proceeded to ask 10 of my female friends which man they found the most attractive based purely on their bodies, and the results were as follows:

0 women found the largest, strongest and most muscular man the most attractive.
7 women found the toned, fit and reasonably muscular man the most attractive.
3 women found the skinny guy the most attractive.

Perfect BodyThis was obviously a very small sample size, but the results still surprised me slightly because for a start I thought at least a few of them would find the largest and strongest man the most attractive. That’s because it is often said that women are subconsciously drawn to men who can protect and look after them the best.

I wasn’t at all surprised that most women went for the toned, muscular guy, similar to the man pictured right, because these are the kind of men that you see on magazine covers, but I was surprised that 3 out of the 10 chose the man with the really skinny figure that doesn’t work out at all because I couldn’t really understand the attraction myself.

So I guess the point is that most (but not all) women are attracted to fit, muscular men, but only to a certain point. It could be said that the huge muscle-bound men who are excessively large with their massive arms, chest and body are a little bit of a turn-off, if this small experiment is anything to go by.
